Hang Out

Cafe Johan & Nyström

Kaisa Sali

Cafe Johan & Nyström is in my opinion the most cozy cafeteria in Helsinki. The sofas at the second floor are a perfect spot for having a long chat with friends or chilling alone reading a good book. The coffee is first class. Johan & Nyström slowly roast all the coffees by themselves and the organic beans are bought straight from the owners. There is also a good selection of teas and bakery products.

Kaivopuisto by the sea is one of the most popular places in Helsinki to enjoy a warm summer day or evening. Grab your picnic basket, music player and group of friends and enjoy the sea view and the relaxed atmosphere. If you run out of refreshments, there are plenty of nice cafes and terraces such as Mattolaituri, Ursula or Karuselli for drinks or food. If you feel like partying, take a short walk to Hernesaari where there are artists on stage during the whole summer. Kaivopuisto is also the place to go on May 1st when we celebrate Vappu! The sight is a bit different…

Cafe Regatta

Laura Lepisto

On a summer evening, this cafe is the most Finnish one to go. The picturesque red cottage cafe reminds us Finns of our traditional summer cottages that most of us have somewhere in Finland by a lake (since we have thousands of them!). Regatta stands by the sea, so you may enjoy your coffee and cinnamon bun outside while watching the sunset. They also have a bonfire where you can grill sausages and keep yourself warm on a chilly evening. So cozy!

Good Life Coffee

Johannes Hattunen

Cozy atmosphere, well-educated baristas, and excellent coffee.  They roast their coffee, and it’s so good that I stopped using milk. Their motto “Avoid Bad Life” fits well with my agenda in life. Good Life Coffee is located in the lively Kallio area of Helsinki, and you can find many bars, restaurants, and nightclubs nearby.
